Dec 11 Weekly Devotional: Advent Peace

Root deeper in the word and apply it to your life daily!

During the season of Advent, we’ll read Scripture that focuses on the themes for the week. This week’s readings will focus on true peace that can only come through knowing the person of Jesus Christ.

Day 1: Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 26:3

Devotional: Begin your journey into understanding supernatural peace by reflecting on these prophetic words from Isaiah. Meditate on the description of Jesus as the Prince of Peace and consider what it means to have perfect peace when our minds are steadfast, trusting in God. Pray for God to reveal His peace in your life.

Day 2: John 14:27

Devotional: Reflect on Jesus' promise of peace in John 14:27. Unlike the fleeting and circumstantial peace of the world, Jesus offers a peace that is supernatural and surpasses all understanding. Consider areas in your life where you need to embrace Jesus' supernatural peace. Pray for the ability to receive and live in this peace.

Day 3: Romans 5:1, 5:8-10

Devotional: In today's reading, Paul emphasizes the peace and reconciliation we have with God through Jesus. Reflect on the depth of God's love, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. How does this reality influence your understanding of peace? Spend time in prayer thanking God for His great love and sacrifice.

Day 4: Ephesians 2:14, Colossians 1:19-20

Devotional: As you read today's verses, consider how Jesus is our peace, breaking down walls of hostility and reconciling us to God. How does this reality impact your relationships with others? Pray for God's guidance in pursuing peace and reconciliation in your relationships as a reflection of the peace we have in Jesus.

Day 5: Hebrews 12:2

Devotional: Conclude your journey into understanding supernatural peace by focusing on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith. Reflect on the joy set before Him and His enduring peace despite the cross. Pray for a deeper understanding and application of this peace in your life, knowing that God is in control and His promises are trustworthy.
