Nov 6 Weekly Devotional: Esther Part 1

Root deeper in the word and apply it to your life daily!

Devotional 1: Reading: Esther 1:1-22

Devotional: Today's reading introduces us to the Book of Esther and the key characters. King Xerxes is a powerful ruler who enjoys flaunting his wealth. Queen Vashti, on the other hand, is dismissed from the throne for her refusal to be objectified. Reflect on the characteristics of these two figures.

How does their behavior reflect their relationship with God? How do we see God's unseen hand in the midst of their decisions?

Devotional 2: Reading: Esther 2:1-18

Devotional: Today we meet Esther, an orphan girl who becomes the queen of Persia. Despite her secret Jewish identity, she finds favor with King Xerxes. The sermon discusses how God uses her in His grand design, even in a foreign land.

How does Esther's story encourage you in your current situation? In what ways is God using you for His purpose, even when it may seem hidden?

Devotional 3: Reading: Esther 2:19-23, Esther 3:1-15

Devotional: In today's reading, we see God's hidden influence in Mordecai's life as he uncovers a plot against the king. We also encounter Haman, whose hatred for Mordecai leads to a plot against all Jews. This reminds us of the challenges and opposition we might face for standing up for our faith.

How do you respond when faced with hostility or opposition due to your faith? Can you trust in God's unseen hand to deliver you, even when circumstances look bleak?

Devotional 4: Reading: Esther 4:1-17

Devotional: Today, we explore the idea of risking ourselves for God's grand plan. Esther decides to approach the king, even if it means risking her life. This is a challenging concept in our self-preservation culture.

Reflect on a time when you were called to take a risk for God's Kingdom. What gave you the courage to do so?

Devotional 5: Reading: Romans 8:28-30

Devotional: In today's reading, Paul reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. This truth echoes in Esther's story and is reinforced in the sermon. It is comforting to know that God's silent role in our lives is part of His grand plan for us.

How does this verse inspire you to trust God's unseen hand in your life, even when His actions seem hidden or silent?
