Nov 20 Weekly Devotional: Wherever You Go, There You Are

Root deeper in the word and apply it to your life daily!

Day 1: Exile, Restoration, and Hope in the Bible

Bible Reading: Genesis 3:22-24, Ezra 1:1-3

Reflect on the theme of exile in the Bible, beginning from the eviction of humanity from Eden to the Israelites' exile from their homeland. Contemplate on how these physical exiles mirror our spiritual alienation from God due to sin. Where and how has sin brought alienation and pain in your life?

Day 2: Faith for Exiles

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 29:11-14, Ezra 9:6-9

Why would God remain faithful when Israel is faithless? Reflect on the faithfulness of God amidst the Israelites' exile. Despite their disobedience, God made a way for their return. Contemplate on God's unchanging promise to restore us even when we falter in our faith. Meditate on His grace and mercy that renew our hope.

Day 3: New Covenant and God's Indwelling

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34, Ezra 7:10

Where have you seen God change you from the inside out? If you stopped and thought for a minute, how has God’s Word effected you recently? Meditate on God's power to redeem and forgive us amidst our brokenness.

Day 4: Brokenness and Redemption

Bible Reading: Ezra 10:1-4

How does your own brokenness reflect that of the Israelites? If you’re honest, where are you disobeying God right now? Meditate on the redemptive power of Jesus that offers a way out of this brokenness and into restoration.

Day 5: Hope in a Broken World

Bible Reading: Ezra 3:10-13, Revelation 21:1-6

How does hope in Jesus change your day to day “ups and downs”? What could it look like for you to remember the “new city” (God’s return to join heaven and earth) once every day?
