Do you know the heart of Jesus? For you?

When we talk about someone’s heart, we are talking about the deepest part of who they are. Their affections, emotions and desires. Someone’s heart is a very intimate place. It includes the root of their thinking, their identity, what they love.

And maybe it is new to consider the heart of Jesus, the Messiah. We have just come off of Easter Week where we celebrate the actions that Jesus did on our behalf. He lived a perfect life that we might be credited with righteousness. He died the death we deserved to die for the punishment for our sins. He rose again to give us new life now and eternal life forever. These are the things Jesus has done.

But we maybe less familiar with who he is…with his heart. If you know someone well, you can describe what they do, where they go, what they say, but do you know what brings them joy? What makes them angry? Do you know their heart?

Though we are familiar with what Jesus has accomplished with his nail pierced hands, maybe we are less familiar with how his heart beats with passion. But the Scripture is full of descriptions of Jesus’ inner life, his affections, emotions & desires.
